As if being a new mom isn’t hard enough work, the body starts to rebel.  The pains you are ignoring get a little worse each day.  You hope that a massage or a day off will help but the day off never comes and the massage relief only lasts a few moments. 

If you do nothing, to top it all off, your body will stay flabby and quite likely even more fat will accumulate and the dimples on your bum will multiply.  Before you know it, you’ll have become one of those frumpy moms as your energy gets lower and your self-confidence is down in the dumps.

In fact, many women end up worse after sessions with a trainer due to the inappropriate exercises and incorrect progressions.  The last thing you need added to your already full plate is a worse functioning and looking body!   

You could go to a Pilates class to get your body back to the way it was, they’re good, right?

Well, the truth is, most Pilates exercises are inadequate for postpartum and many are downright dangerous and can cause incontinence and organ prolapsed due to the excessive pressure inside the abdomen.  Pilates exercises focus of the voluntary function of the core where as postpartum we need to focus on the Involuntary function.  I am Pilates trained and the program uses a few very select exercises similar to Pilates, but they don’t come until the voluntary function phase.

But is all that running, jumping and weightlifting really appropriate for new moms or will all the jumping and running just make things worse?
